½ tsp nutmeg
1 tbsp melted butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 egg (for egg wash)
1 tbsp water
For the Sauce (Optional but Recommended):
¼ cup butter
¼ cup brown sugar
¼ cup maple syrup or honey
¼ tsp cinnamon
Instructions
Prepare the Apples
Peel and core the apples, then cut them into halves or quarters.
In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
Coat the apples with the sugar mixture.
Wrap the Apples in Dough
Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into 4 squares.
Place one apple piece in the center of each square.
Wrap the dough around the apple, sealing the edges tightly.
Pinch the seams together so the filling doesn’t leak out.
Egg Wash & Air Fry
Beat the egg with 1 tbsp of water to create an egg wash.
Brush each dumpling with the egg wash for a golden finish.
Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for 3 minutes.
Place the dumplings in the air fryer basket, leaving space between them.
Air fry at 350°F for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
Make the Sauce (Optional)
In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt butter, brown sugar, maple syrup (or honey), and cinnamon.
Stir until the sauce is smooth and slightly thickened (about 3 minutes).
Drizzle over warm apple dumplings before serving.
Serving Suggestions
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Drizzle extra caramel sauce for extra indulgence.
Sprinkle powdered sugar for a simple finish.
