2 large apples (Honeycrisp, Gala, or your favorite)
1 tsp ground cinnamon
¼ tsp nutmeg (optional for extra warmth)
Cooking spray (optional for added crispness)
Instructions:
Get the apples ready: Clean the apples and remove the cores. For even slices, use a sharp knife or mandoline to cut them thin, approximately 1/8 inch thick.
Season the Apples: Put the apple slices in a bowl and, if using, sprinkle them with nutmeg and cinnamon. Coat the slices evenly by tossing them.
Set up in the Air Fryer: Apply a little layer of frying spray to the air fryer basket. Make sure the apple slices do not overlap as you arrange them in a single layer; you might need to work in batches.
Air Fry: Bake the slices for 12 to 15 minutes at 300°F (150°C), turning them over halfway through. To make sure they don’t burn, check often in the last minutes.
Cool to Crisp: After finishing, take out the apple slices and give them some time to cool. As they cool, they will get crisp.
Serve: Add your apple chips to salads, yogurt, or oatmeal, or eat them as a nutritious snack!
Optional added Ingredients:
To create a contrast between sweetness and saltiness, add a sprinkle of sea salt.
For added sweetness, drizzle with a thin honey glaze.
