Ingredients:
3 cups frozen shredded hashbrowns (thawed)
1 cup sour cream
1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup (or cream of mushroom for vegetarian option)
1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese (plus extra for topping)
½ cup finely chopped onion
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp black pepper
2 tbsp melted butter
Optional Topping:
½ cup crushed cornflakes or Ritz crackers
1 tbsp melted butter (to mix with topping)
Instructions:
Mix the Casserole Base:
In a large bowl, combine:
Thawed hashbrowns
Sour cream
Cream of chicken soup
1 ½ cups shredded cheddar
Chopped onion
Garlic powder, salt, and pepper
2 tbsp melted butter
Mix everything until well combined.
Prepare Air Fryer Dish:
Lightly grease a 7-inch round or square baking dish that fits your air fryer basket.
Spoon the hashbrown mixture into the dish and spread evenly.
Optional: Mix crushed crackers or cornflakes with 1 tbsp melted butter and sprinkle over the top.
Air Fry the Casserole:
Preheat air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
Place the dish in the air fryer basket.
Air fry for 18–22 minutes, or until hot, bubbly, and golden on top.
In the last 5 minutes, sprinkle on extra cheese if desired and continue cooking until melted.
The center should be set and the edges slightly crispy. If using a deeper dish, add 3–5 more minutes.
Cool Slightly & Serve:
Let it rest for about 5 minutes before serving. This helps the casserole firm up and makes it easier to scoop.
Serves:
4–6 people as a side dish or 3–4 as a main.
Tips:
Add-ins: Cooked bacon bits, diced ham, or sautéed bell peppers mix in beautifully.
Make-ahead: Assemble the night before, refrigerate, and air fry the next morning.
Storage: Keeps in the fridge for up to 4 days. Reheat slices in the air fryer at 320°F for 5–6 minutes.
