Ingredients (Serves 4):
For the Meatballs:
300g (10 oz) ground beef or mixed beef & lamb
1/4 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp Italian seasoning or mixed herbs
1 egg
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tbsp grated Parmesan (optional)
For the Mashed Potatoes:
3 medium potatoes, peeled and chopped
2 tbsp butter
1/4 cup milk (warm)
Salt to taste
Optional: 1/4 cup shredded cheese mixed in for extra creaminess
Topping:
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
Chopped parsley (for garnish)
Optional: drizzle of brown gravy or tomato sauce
Instructions
Boil & Mash Potatoes (10–12 minutes)
Boil potatoes in salted water until fork-tender (about 10–12 minutes).
Drain and mash with butter, warm milk, and salt until smooth and creamy.
Optional: Stir in a handful of shredded cheese for extra richness.
Prepare & Shape Meatballs (5 minutes)
In a bowl, mix ground meat, breadcrumbs, seasonings, egg, and Parmesan.
Roll into small meatballs (about 1-inch size). You’ll get 12–14.
Pre-Cook Meatballs in Air Fryer (6–8 minutes)
Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3 minutes.
Place meatballs in the basket (lightly sprayed with oil).
Air fry for 6–8 minutes, shaking halfway, until browned and cooked through.
Assemble Casserole (3–5 minutes)
In a greased 6- or 7-inch baking dish, spread the mashed potatoes as the bottom layer.
Arrange cooked meatballs over the mashed potatoes.
Sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
Final Air Fry (8–10 minutes)
Place the casserole dish in the air fryer basket.
Air fry at 350°F (175°C) for 8–10 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
Optional: Broil for 1–2 minutes at the end for a golden top.
