Air Fryer Old-Fashioned Liver and Onions
from fork to spoon
One of the recipes that I am asked to prepare the most frequently is this one. Every week, I receive approximately ten emails requesting me to find a way to cook liver and onions using an air fryer. So, I went to the butcher store the day before yesterday. When I came upon a wonderful package of beef liver, I did not waste any time in purchasing it along with a bag of onions. Today’s project, Air Fryer Liver and Onions, was something I intended to do while my children were in school, and I was well aware of what I would be doing.
This dish is not difficult to follow; in fact, it is fairly easy, much like the majority of recipes. The recipe was tried twice, and I was able to find out how to achieve the greatest possible outcome.
There are only two ways that I am aware of to prepare liver and onions: battered and non-battered. If you have never eaten liver and onions before, you miss out on the opportunity to try them. I began with the one that had not been battered because that was the specific kind that everyone appeared to be looking for a recipe for.
Either a cast-iron skillet or a griddle, depending on where you grew up, is the usual method of preparation for this straightforward dish. The onions were always included in the serving. Salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and a little bit of dry mustard were the seasonings that I used. They were not particularly difficult to prepare.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pound baby calves liver
- 2 large onions, sliced into rings
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
Details to follow
- In order to begin, peel the onions, and then cut them into rings using a horizontal cutting motion.
- Put the onion rings in a wide bowl that can be used for mixing. Salt, pepper, smoked paprika, dry mustard, garlic powder, and onion powder are some of the seasonings that you should use on them.
- Put the onions in the basket of an air fryer and toss them.
- Add some salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, dry mustard, and smoky paprika to your liver, and then season it with these ingredients. Both sides should be seasoned.
- After placing the onions in the basket, place the liver on top of them. The temperature should be set at 370 degrees Fahrenheit for seven minutes.
- The liver had reached the desired level of doneness, so I withdrew it and arranged it on a plate.
- After tossing the onions with a pair of tongs, I continued to cook them in the air fryer for some additional four minutes.
- Enjoy, plate, and serve the food!
