Ingredients
- 4 fresh pears
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup unsalted butter room temperature
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Rinse pears, and then slice in half. Use a melon baller or spoon to remove the seeds and core.
- Brush the sliced side of the pear with coconut oil.
- Place the pears in the air fryer, cut side down, and then brush the tops of the pears. Air fry at 350 degrees F for 8-10 minutes. Don’t overcrowd the basket. Cook in batches if necessary.
- After 8-10 minutes, turn the pears over, and continue air frying at 350 degrees F for an additional 4-5 minutes.
- While the pears are air frying, in a small bowl, stir together the butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
- Once the pears are done air frying and are softened, divide and spoon the butter and brown sugar cinnamon mixture into each slice of the pear cavity.
- Return the basket to the air fryer and air fry at 350 degrees F for 2-4 more minutes, until the butter has completely melted and the brown sugar has caramelized. Serve caramelized pears warm.
Optional: Add toppings of your choice
Notes
When selecting pears for this recipe, try to use clean and equal-sized pear so they will cook evenly.
Select a ripe but firm pear if you are going to making these pears right away. If you are making them later, choose pears that aren’t quite ripe so they have a couple of days to ripen.
Peeling is optional and completely your preference. I prefer to leave the skin on for added texture and flavor. If you do want to skin them, use a vegetable peeler or sharp paring knife to peel before air frying.
Remove the seeds and core before air frying. If you are going to have the pears sitting out for more than 15 minutes, spray them lemon juice to help them prevent browning.
