Description
Air Fryer Pizza Toast is a quick, cheesy, and satisfying snack that brings the flavors of pizza to crispy toasted bread. It’s perfect for busy days when you want something delicious but don’t have time to prepare a full pizza. Thick slices of bread are topped with savory pizza sauce, melted mozzarella cheese, and classic pepperoni slices, then cooked in the air fryer until golden, bubbly, and slightly crispy around the edges. The air fryer helps the bread become perfectly toasted while melting the cheese evenly, creating a snack that tastes like mini personal pizzas. This recipe is great for lunch, after-school snacks, or even a fun appetizer for gatherings.
Ingredients
6 slices thick white bread or Texas toast
½ cup pizza sauce or marinara sauce
1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
18–24 small pepperoni slices
½ teaspoon dried oregano
½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
Optional: grated Parmesan cheese for topping
Optional: fresh basil or parsley for garnish
Instructions
Start by preheating your air fryer to 370°F (188°C) for about 3 minutes. Preheating helps the toast cook evenly and ensures the bread becomes crisp.
Place the slices of bread on a clean surface or cutting board. Spread about 1–2 tablespoons of pizza sauce evenly over each slice, making sure to leave a small border around the edges to prevent spilling.
Next, sprinkle a generous layer of shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce. The cheese should cover the sauce completely but not overflow too much. Add 3–4 pepperoni slices on top of each toast.
Lightly sprinkle oregano, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder over the top to enhance the pizza flavor. If you like extra cheesy flavor, you can also add a small sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.
Carefully place the prepared pizza toast slices into the air fryer basket in a single layer. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to cook them in batches.
Air fry for 4–6 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted, bubbly, and slightly golden. The bread should be crispy on the bottom while remaining soft inside.
Once done, remove the pizza toast carefully and let it cool for about a minute. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
Tips
Use thicker bread like Texas toast for the best results because it holds the toppings well without becoming soggy. You can also customize this recipe by adding toppings such as olives, mushrooms, bell peppers, or cooked sausage.
Serving
Serve the pizza toast hot and fresh as a snack, quick lunch, or party appetizer. Pair it with a small salad or dipping sauce for a complete and satisfying meal. 🍕
