Ingredients

For the Potato Mixture:

2 large potatoes, boiled and mashed

½ teaspoon salt, or to taste

½ teaspoon black pepper

¼ teaspoon chili flakes (optional for spice)

½ teaspoon garlic powder or minced garlic

2 tablespoons finely chopped coriander or parsley

2 tablespoons grated mozzarella or cheddar cheese (optional mix-in)

For the Filling:

  • ½ cup mozzarella cheese cubes (for stuffing, 1 small cube per ball)

For Coating:

½ cup all-purpose flour

½ cup water (to make slurry)

1 cup breadcrumbs (plain or panko)

1 tablespoon oil spray (for air fryer)

Instructions

Prepare the Potato Mixture

Boil and peel potatoes, then mash until smooth — no lumps.

Add salt, pepper, chili flakes, garlic powder, and coriander.

Mix well until evenly combined.

If the mixture feels too soft, add 1 tablespoon cornstarch or breadcrumbs to firm it up.

Shape the Balls

Take about 2 tablespoons of the potato mixture in your hand.

Flatten slightly and place one cheese cube in the center.

Gently close and roll into a smooth ball.

Repeat until all mixture and cheese cubes are used.

Coat the Balls

In one bowl, mix flour + water to form a thin batter.

Dip each ball into the batter, then roll in breadcrumbs until fully coated.

For extra crispiness, double coat by repeating the dip and crumb step.

Air Fry

Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3 minutes.

Lightly spray the basket with oil.

Place the coated balls in a single layer (don’t overcrowd).

Spray a little oil on top of the balls.

Air fry for 12–15 minutes, shaking halfway through, until golden and crispy.

 Serve

Serve hot with ketchup, spicy mayo, or garlic sauce.

Garnish with chopped herbs or grated cheese for presentation.

Tips for Success

Chill the shaped balls in the fridge for 10–15 minutes before air frying for better shape retention.

Use panko breadcrumbs for extra crunch.

Avoid overboiling potatoes — they should be just tender, not mushy.

You can add chopped green chilies or spring onions for extra flavor.

Serving Suggestions

Pair with mint chutney or aioli dip.

Serve alongside tea or coffee for an evening snack.

Add them to your party platter with fries, nuggets, and dips.
