Air fryer potato chips raw and boiled

Making homemade potato chips in an air fryer is a fantastic way to enjoy a crunchy snack with less oil. You can prepare them from raw or boiled potatoes, depending on your preference. Here’s how to make both versions:

Air Fryer Potato Chips from Raw Potatoes

Ingredients:
  • 2 large russet potatoes
  • 1-2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Optional seasonings: garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, pepper
Instructions:
  1. Prepare the Potatoes:
    • Wash and peel the potatoes (if desired).
    • Slice the potatoes into thin, even slices (about 1/16 inch thick) using a mandoline slicer or a sharp knife.
  2. Soak the Slices:
    • Place the potato slices in a bowl of cold water and soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. This helps them become crispier.
  3. Dry the Slices:
    • Drain the water and pat the potato slices dry with a clean towel or paper towels.
  4. Season the Potatoes:
    • Toss the dried potato slices with olive oil and seasonings of your choice until evenly coated.
  5. Air Fry the Chips:
    • Preheat your air fryer to 360°F (180°C).
    • Arrange the potato slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. You may need to do this in batches to avoid overcrowding.
    • Air fry for 10-15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until the chips are golden brown and crispy.
  6. Cool and Serve:
    • Allow the chips to cool slightly before serving. They will continue to crisp up as they cool.
