Ingredients
- 2 sweet potatoes 2 medium or 1 large sweet potatoes.
- 1 Onion Sweet, yellow, or red onion works great for this recipe. It takes your sweet potato game to a whole new level. As the sweet potatoes cook in the air fryer, the onions become caramelized and add extra crunch and a depth of flavor.
- 1 Tablespoon oil Avocado oil or Extra Virgin olive oil
- 1 Teaspoon seasoning I use a mix of Salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Feel free to use your favorite spices and herbs.
Optional
- ½ Teaspoon Dried Rosemary or dried Thyme
Instructions
- Scrub your sweet potato under running water to remove any dirt. You can peel them or leave the skins on for added fiber and texture. I peeled mine.
- Cut your sweet potatoes into uniform pieces. I cut them into 1-inch cubes. Whether you prefer wedges, cubes, or fries, consistency in size ensures even cooking and prevents some pieces from burning while others remain undercooked.
Peel and slice onions into half circles or thin wedges, depending on your preference.
Toss the sweet potatoes and onions with oil and seasoning until they are well-coated.
- Preheat your air fryer at 375°F (190°C) for 3 minutes before adding your sweet potatoes.
Spread the pieces out in a single layer, allowing hot air to circulate evenly around each piece.
- Cook for 12-16 minutes at 375°F, depending on the size. Shake the basket halfway through cooking to promote even browning.
Check for doneness: Around the 12-minute mark, check the vegetables by poking them with a knife or fork. They should be golden brown and crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside. If needed, cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.

Leftovers
- Place the cooled vegetables in an airtight container and store them in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
- To reheat, place the vegetables back in the air fryer at 375°F (190°C) for 5-7 minutes. They’ll regain their crispy texture without drying out.
- For longer storage, you can freeze the air-fried vegetables. Spread them out on a baking sheet to freeze individually before transferring them to a freezer bag. They can be stored for up to 3 months.
