Apple Cake

Apple Cake

Components:

  1. Two cups of all-purpose flour
  2. 1 ½ teaspoon of baking powder
  3. Half a teaspoon of baking soda
  4. Ground cinnamon, 1 teaspoon
  5. Optional: ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  6. ¼ teaspoon salt and ½ cup softened unsalted butter
  7. One cup of sugar granules
  8. Two huge eggs
  9. One teaspoon of vanilla cream
  10. One and a half cups of diced and peeled apples (about two medium apples)
  11. Half a cup of plain yogurt or sour cream
  12. Half a cup of chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Directions:

  • Set the oven temperature to 175°C (350°F). A 9-inch round or square cake pan should be greased and floured.
  • Get the dry ingredients ready: Mix the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), and salt in a medium-sized bowl.
  • Beat the sugar and butter together: Using an electric mixer set to medium speed, beat the sugar and softened butter in a large basin until they are light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
  • Add vanilla and eggs: One by one, beat in the eggs, making sure each is completely combined before adding the next. Add the vanilla extract and whisk.
  • Add dry ingredients and sour cream alternately: Slowly add three parts of the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, followed by two parts of the sour cream. The dry components should be used first and last. Stir just until incorporated.
  • Add the apples: Gently mix the batter with the diced apples (and nuts, if using).
Bake the cake by uniformly spreading the batter in the cake pan that has been prepared. A toothpick inserted in the center should come out clean or with a few crumbs after 35 to 45 minutes of baking.
  • Cool and serve: After letting the cake cool in the pan for ten minutes, move it to a wire rack to finish cooling. For extra sweetness, you might choose to drizzle with a glaze or dust with powdered sugar.
