Apple Dumplings
Apple dumplings are a traditional delicacy that are made with delicate apples that are wrapped in buttery pastry and baked in a delicious cinnamon syrup. These dumplings are always warm and flaky. Great for the fall season or whenever you feel the need for a warm and fuzzy treat!

Ingredients
For the Dumplings:
2 large apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well)
1 package (14 oz) refrigerated pie crusts (or homemade pastry dough)
½ cup granulated sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
2 tbsp unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
For the Syrup:
1 cup water
¾ cup granulated sugar
½ cup brown sugar, packed
¼ cup unsalted butter
½ tsp vanilla extract
½ tsp ground cinnamon
Optional Toppings:
Vanilla ice cream
Whipped cream
Caramel drizzle
Instructions
Preheat Oven & Prepare Apples
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Peel and core the apples, then cut each into 4-6 wedges.
Roll Out the Dough
Unroll the pie crusts and cut each into 4-6 squares (depending on apple wedge size).
Place an apple wedge on each square and sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar (½ cup sugar + 1 tsp cinnamon).
Dot with butter pieces, then fold the dough over the apple, sealing the edges.
Make the Syrup
In a saucepan, combine water, granulated sugar, brown sugar, butter, vanilla, and cinnamon.
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 3-5 minutes until slightly thickened.
Assemble & Bake
Arrange dumplings in a greased baking dish.
Pour the syrup over the dumplings.
Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown and apples are tender.
Serve Warm
Let cool slightly, then serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Add nuts: Sprinkle chopped pecans or walnuts before baking.
Spice it up: Add nutmeg or cardamom for extra warmth.
