Avocado Seed–Hibiscus & Clove Wellness Tea
A vibrant, antioxidant-packed drink made from simple ingredients hiding in plain sight
This nourishing herbal tea transforms three humble ingredients — an avocado seed, dried hibiscus flowers, and whole cloves — into a powerful wellness drink that supports digestion, immunity, and natural energy. The recipe is simple, but the benefits are remarkable. Avocado seeds are rich in antioxidants, hibiscus is known for its bright flavor and vitamin C content, and cloves offer comforting warmth along with soothing properties. Together, they create a tea that is not only delicious but also deeply restorative.
Ingredients
- 1 large avocado seed, washed and finely grated
- A small handful of dried hibiscus flowers (about 2 tablespoons)
- 6–8 whole cloves
- 3 cups purified water
- Optional: 1 teaspoon honey, 1 lemon slice, fresh mint, or 1 cinnamon stick
Instructions
1. Prepare the Avocado Seed
Start by removing the seed from a ripe avocado and rinsing it thoroughly to remove any remaining fruit. Pat it dry. The key to the best extraction is to finely grate the seed. This exposes more surface area and allows the nutrients to infuse deeply into the water. Use a microplane or the smallest holes on your grater. The seed may feel firm, but once grated, it blends easily into the infusion.
2. Combine Ingredients in a Pot
Place a medium-sized pot on the stove and pour in 3 cups of purified water. Add the grated avocado seed. Then add the dried hibiscus flowers, which will give the tea its signature ruby-red color, and drop in 6–8 whole cloves for aroma and warmth. If you enjoy a more spiced flavor, add a cinnamon stick here.
3. Bring to a Boil
Turn the heat to medium and bring the mixture to a gentle boil. This helps release the natural compounds from the avocado seed and activates the tangy hibiscus and fragrant cloves.
4. Simmer for Full Flavor
Once boiling, reduce the heat and allow the mixture to simmer 15–20 minutes. During this time, the water absorbs the earthy tones of the seed, the bright acidity of hibiscus, and the comforting spice from the cloves. The kitchen will smell warm and floral — a sign that the infusion is ready.
5. Strain and Serve
Turn off the heat and carefully strain the tea into a mug or teapot using a fine-mesh sieve. Serve warm for a soothing evening drink or let it cool and pour it over ice for a refreshing, tangy iced tea. Sweeten with honey or brighten with lemon if desired.
