Buttery Crawfish Roll (Air Fryer Recipe)
Introduction:
This Buttery Crawfish Roll takes inspiration from classic New England lobster rolls and adds a Louisiana twist. Crawfish tails are gently warmed in garlic butter with herbs and spices, then loaded into a toasted bun that’s crispy on the outside and fluffy inside—thanks to the air fryer. Perfect for lunch, dinner, or anytime you’re craving a buttery seafood treat!
Ingredients:
For the Crawfish Filling:
1 lb cooked crawfish tails (peeled, thawed if frozen)
4 tbsp unsalted butter
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
1 tsp Cajun or Creole seasoning (adjust to taste)
1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
Salt & pepper, to taste
Optional: pinch of smoked paprika or cayenne for heat
For the Rolls:
4 split-top hot dog buns or brioche rolls
2 tbsp melted butter (for brushing buns)
Optional: extra parsley or green onions for garnish
Instructions:
Toast the Rolls (Air Fryer):
Preheat air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
Brush the outsides of the buns with melted butter.
Place in the air fryer basket and toast for 2–4 minutes, until golden and slightly crispy. Set aside.
Make the Buttery Crawfish Filling:
In a skillet over medium heat (or in an oven-safe dish if using the air fryer), melt 4 tbsp butter.
Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Stir in lemon juice, Cajun seasoning, parsley, salt, and pepper.
Add the crawfish tails and cook for 2–3 minutes, just until warmed through. (Avoid overcooking—they’re already cooked!)
Air Fryer Option:
If you don’t want to use the stovetop, place all filling ingredients in a small foil tray or oven-safe ramekin. Air fry at 300°F (150°C) for 5–7 minutes, stirring halfway through.
Assemble the Rolls:
Stuff each toasted bun generously with buttery crawfish filling.
Spoon extra garlic butter from the pan over the top.
Garnish with parsley, green onions, or a squeeze of lemon if desired.
Tips:
Buns: Brioche or split-top rolls hold up best and toast beautifully in the air fryer.
Make it spicy: Add hot sauce or crushed red pepper flakes for a bold kick.
No crawfish? Shrimp works just as well as a substitute.
Serves:
Makes 4 hearty rolls.
Optional Add-Ons:
Serve with air-fried sweet potato fries or Cajun potato wedges
Add shredded lettuce or slaw to the roll for crunch
Drizzle with a spicy aioli or remoulade sauce for extra richness
