Caramel Walnut Blondies
Craving sweet decadence led to this marriage of buttery bars and creamy caramel. A sprinkle of walnuts adds just the right crunch in every bite.
Ingredients:
– 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
– 1 cup brown sugar, packed
– 1 egg
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 1 cup all-purpose flour
– 1/4 teaspoon salt
– 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (or pecans)
– 1 cup caramel sauce (homemade or store-bought)
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven:
– Set oven to 350°F (175°C).
– Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease.
2. Make the batter:
– In a mixing bowl, whisk melted butter and brown sugar until combined.
– Stir in egg and vanilla.
– Add flour and salt, mixing until just incorporated.
– Fold in chopped walnuts.
3. Assemble in pan:
– Spread half of the batter into the prepared pan.
– Drizzle caramel sauce evenly over the batter, then spoon the remaining batter on top (it’s okay if some caramel peeks through).
4. Bake:
– Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center is slightly soft.
– A toothpick inserted may come out with a bit of caramel but no raw batter.
5. Chill and serve:Allow bars to cool fully in order to solidify the caramel.Cut into squares and savor the luscious sweetness.
