Carnivore Chaffle Burger Recipe
A Carnivore Chaffle Burger is a fantastic low-carb, high-protein meal, ideal for those following a carnivore or keto diet. It replaces traditional buns with chaffles (cheese and egg waffles), making it a perfect handheld burger option while staying in line with the carnivore diet’s focus on animal-based foods. Here’s how you can make your own Carnivore Chaffle Burger at home.
Ingredients:
For the Chaffle Buns:
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- Pinch of salt
For the Burger:
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 ratio for juiciness)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 4 slices of cheddar cheese (optional)
- 2-4 strips of cooked bacon (optional)
Instructions:
- Make the Chaffle Buns:
- Preheat your waffle maker to medium-high heat.
- In a medium bowl, whisk the egg and add the shredded mozzarella, Parmesan, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt. Mix well until everything is combined.
- Lightly grease the waffle maker with non-stick spray or a little butter.
- Pour half of the cheese mixture onto the waffle maker and cook until golden brown and crispy (about 4-5 minutes). Repeat with the remaining mixture to make a second chaffle.
- Once done, remove the chaffles and set aside.
- Cook the Burger Patties:
- While the chaffles are cooking, season the ground beef with salt and pepper. Form the beef into 2 large patties (or 4 smaller ones, depending on your preference).
- Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes per side for medium doneness, or longer if you prefer well-done. If you’re adding cheese, place a slice of cheddar on top of each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.
- Assemble the Burger:
- Place one chaffle bun on the bottom of a plate.
- Add a cooked beef patty on top, followed by the melted cheddar cheese (if using).
- Optionally, add bacon strips for extra flavor and crunch.
- Top with the second chaffle to complete your burger.
Tips:
- Customize the toppings based on your preferences, such as adding pickles or mustard (if you’re not strictly carnivore).
- For an extra crispy chaffle, you can cook it a bit longer in the waffle maker or toast the chaffle after it’s made.
This Carnivore Chaffle Burger is a satisfying and delicious way to enjoy a burger without the carbs!
