Cheese and sausage breakfast casserole
Ingredients
- One pound of breakfast sausage (you can choose mild or spicy).
- Six big eggs
- Two cups of milk
- One teaspoon of salt
- Half a teaspoon of black pepper
- One-half teaspoon of garlic powder
- Eight bread slices (cubed or any other kind you like)
- Two cups of shredded cheese, either mozzarella, cheddar, or a combination
- Chopped bell peppers or green onions are optional but can enhance flavour.
Directions
- Set the Oven’s Temperature to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook the Sausage: Brown and thoroughly cook the sausage in a large skillet over medium heat. As it cooks, break it into crumbles. Drain any extra fat.
- To make the egg mixture, combine the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and garlic powder in a big basin and whisk until thoroughly blended.
Put the casserole together:
- Spread the cubed bread evenly over the bottom of a 9 x 13-inch baking dish that has been oiled.
- Over the toast, scatter the cooked banger.
- Evenly cover the bread and sausage with the egg mixture.
- Add any optional toppings, such as bell peppers or green onions, and shredded cheese on top.
- Bake: Bake for 30 to 35 minutes in a preheated oven, or until the top is bubbling and brown and the eggs are set.
- Serve: Before slicing, allow it to cool for a few minutes. Warm up and dig in!
This dish can be prepared in advance for ease and is excellent for breakfast or brunch. Have fun!
