Cheese Potato Bread (Frying Pan Recipe)
Introduction
This cheesy potato bread is an easy, delicious, and comforting dish made with mashed potatoes and a soft dough, then pan-fried to golden perfection. The cheese melts inside, creating an irresistible bite. Perfect for breakfast, snacks, or as a side dish!
Ingredients
For the Dough:
2 medium potatoes (about 1½ cups mashed)
1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour (plus more for dusting)
½ tsp salt
½ tsp garlic powder (optional, for extra flavor)
½ tsp baking powder (for a fluffier texture)
1 tbsp melted butter or oil
For the Filling:
½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese (or your favorite cheese)
¼ cup shredded cheddar (for extra flavor)
For Cooking:
1 tbsp butter or oil (for frying)
Instructions
Prepare the Potato Dough
Boil the potatoes until fork-tender (about 10–12 minutes). Drain and mash until smooth.
Add salt, garlic powder, baking powder, melted butter, and flour. Mix until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms.
Knead lightly until smooth. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour.
Shape the Bread
Divide the dough into 4 equal portions.
Flatten one portion into a small disk (about 5 inches wide).
Place a handful of cheese in the center, then fold the edges over to seal it like a stuffed bun. Flatten gently into a thick pancake shape.
Repeat with the remaining dough portions.
Cook in a Frying Pan
Heat a non-stick frying pan over medium-low heat and add butter or oil.
Place the potato bread in the pan and cook for 3–4 minutes per side, pressing gently. Flip once golden brown and crispy.
Cover the pan with a lid for the last minute to ensure the cheese melts fully.
Serve & Enjoy!
Remove from the pan and let it cool slightly before cutting.
Serve warm with sour cream, ketchup, or a garlic butter dip.
Pro Tips
Use starchy potatoes like Russet or Yukon Gold for a better dough texture.
Mix in chopped herbs like parsley or green onions for extra flavor.
Try different cheeses—cheddar for sharpness, mozzarella for stretchiness, or Gouda for a creamy texture.
For a crispier crust, cook on lower heat and let it crisp up slowly.
Enjoy your homemade Cheese Potato Bread—crispy, cheesy, and oh-so-delicious!
