Cheesy Egg Rolls with Beef

Cheesy Egg Rolls with Beef

Ingredients

Regarding the Filling:

  1. One pound of ground beef
  2. One cup of shredded cheddar cheese, or any other cheese of your choosing
  3. Half a cup of finely chopped green onions
  4. Two minced garlic cloves
  5. One teaspoon of soy sauce
  6. One teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce
  7. Half a teaspoon of black pepper, ground
  8. To taste, add salt.

In order to assemble:

  1. Ten to twelve egg roll wrappers
  2. One beaten egg (used to seal the wrappers)
  3. Canola oil, peanut oil, or vegetable oil can be used for frying.

Directions

Prepare the beef:

  • Cook the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat for 5 to 7 minutes, or until browned and cooked through. If needed, drain extra fat.

Include Flavors:

  • Season the cooked beef with salt, black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and minced garlic. Cook for one more minute, or until the garlic is aromatic, stirring to incorporate. Take off the heat and let the mixture to cool a little.

Add cheese and green onions and stir.

  • After the beef mixture has slightly cooled, mix in the chopped green onions and shredded cheese until well blended.

Get the egg rolls ready:

  • On a spotless surface, place an egg roll wrapper with one corner facing you in the shape of a diamond. In the middle of the wrapper, put roughly 2 tablespoons of the meat filling.
  • Fold the sides in after folding the bottom corner over the filling. Using a little beaten egg to seal the top corner, roll the wrapper securely away from you.

Warm up the oil:

  • Heat about 2 inches of oil in a large skillet or deep fryer over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). A tiny slice of bread should sizzle and rapidly turn golden brown when you test the oil.

Cook the egg rolls:

  • Don’t overcrowd the pan when you add a few egg rolls to the hot oil. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3–4 minutes per side.
  • To drain extra oil, slide the egg rolls to a plate lined with paper towels after removing them with a slotted spoon.

Serve:

  • Serve the hot cheesy beef egg rolls with your preferred dipping sauces, including sriracha, soy sauce, or sweet and sour sauce.

Advice

  • If you want a healthy option, you can bake the egg rolls at 400°F (200°C) for 15 to 20 minutes, rotating them midway through, until they are golden brown.
  • Storage: Egg rolls that are left over can be kept in the fridge for up to three days in an airtight container. To get the crispiness back, reheat in the oven or air fryer.
  • Additions: For more taste and nutrition, feel free to incorporate additional items into the filling, such as shredded bell peppers, cabbage, or carrots.
