Ingredients:
– 4 cups all-purpose flour
– 1/3 cup granulated sugar
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 1 package (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
– 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F)
– 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
– 2 large eggs
– 1 cup chocolate chips
– 1 egg (for egg wash)
– 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)
Instructions:
1. Get the dough ready: Combine the yeast, sugar, salt, and two cups of flour in a large mixing basin. Pour in the eggs, melted butter, and heated milk. Stir until well blended.
Approximately half a cup of the remaining flour should be added gradually until the dough comes together and becomes somewhat sticky.
2. Work the dough by: The dough should be smooth and elastic after 8 to 10 minutes of kneading on a floured surface.
– Knead the chocolate chips into the dough until they are uniformly distributed.
3. The Initial Ascent: Put the dough in a bowl that has been gently oiled, cover it with a fresh kitchen towel, and let it in a warm location to rise for around one to one and a half hours, or until it has doubled in size.
Fourth, form the buns: After the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured board.
– Form each of the twelve equal pieces of dough into a ball.
– Arrange the dough balls, approximately 2 inches apart, on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
5. **Second Rise:** – Place a fresh kitchen towel over the dough balls and allow them to rise for 30 to 45 minutes, or until they have doubled in size.
6. **Preheat Oven:** – Set the oven’s temperature to 375°F (190°C).
7. **Egg Wash:**
– To prepare the egg wash, mix the egg and water in a small basin.
– Apply the egg wash to the tops of the rising buns.
The buns should be baked for 15 to 18 minutes in a preheated oven, or until they are golden brown and hollow when tapped on the bottom.
Allow the buns to cool on a wire rack before serving.
Warm or room temperature is OK for serving.
Have fun!
