Classic Pound Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
1 cup (226 grams) unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 1/2 cups (300 grams) granulated sugar
4 large eggs, at room temperature
2 cups (240 grams) all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon (2 grams) baking powder
1/2 teaspoon (2 grams) salt
1/2 cup (120 milliliters) whole milk, at room temperature
1 teaspoon (5 milliliters) pure vanilla extract
Instructions:
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch (25 cm) bundt pan or a loaf pan.
Cream Butter and Sugar:
In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. This should take about 3-5 minutes.
Add Eggs:
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Make sure each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next.
Sift Dry Ingredients:
In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:
Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined after each addition. Be careful not to overmix.
Add Vanilla:
Stir in the vanilla extract until just combined.
Pour Batter into Pan:
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for about 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. If the top starts to brown too quickly, you can tent it with foil.
