Description
Do you love seafood po’boys as much as I do? If so, then you’re going to love this air fryer version! It tastes just like the ones from Popeye’s, and it’s a lot healthier because it’s cooked in the air fryer. So go ahead and give it a try – I promise you won’t be disappointed!
Ingredients
- 12 ounces shrimp, small shrimp, peeled deveined, tails removed(60/80 count)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup buttermilk
- 2 tablspoons hot sauce
For serving:hoagie rolls, mayonnaise, shredded lettuce, and pickle chips
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F. Make sure the shrimp are patted dry with a paper towel.In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder,onion powder, and cayenne, set aside.
- In na medium-sized bowl, whisk together the egg, buttermilk, and hot sauce. Dip theshrimp, one at a time into the flour, shake off any excess. Dip into the egg,letting any excess drip off. Coat in the flour mixture again.
- Spraythe air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place the shrimp into the basket, nottouching. Generously spray the tops with cooking spray. Air fry for 4 minutes,flipping halfway through. Once flipped, spray again with cooking spray.
- Serveon hoagie rolls with mayonnaise, shredded lettuce, and pickles.

This will make 2 sandwiches with a very generous amount of shrimp or 4 normal sized sandwiches.
