Cornish Pasties in an air fryer
Ingredients
Regarding the pastry:
- Two cups of all-purpose flour
- Half a teaspoon of salt
- Half a cup of chilled, diced unsalted butter
- Four to five tablespoons of cold water
Regarding the filling:
- One medium potato, chopped
- Half a cup of diced beef (or, for vegetarians, a mixture of veggies)
- One little onion, diced finely
- Half a cup of chopped rutabaga or turnip
- To taste, add salt and pepper.
- Herbs (such as thyme) for flavor are optional.
Directions
Prepare the pastry:
- Put the flour and salt in a basin.
- Stir in the chilled butter until it crumbles.
- Add cold water a little at a time while mixing the dough until it comes together.
- Refrigerate for a minimum of half an hour after wrapping in plastic.
Get the filler ready:
- Add the beef, turnip, onion, cubed potato, salt, and pepper to a bowl. Stir thoroughly.
Put the pasties together:
- Set the air fryer’s temperature to 175°C (350°F).
- On a surface dusted with flour, roll out the pastry to a thickness of approximately 1/8 inch.
- Cut out circles that are roughly 6 to 8 inches across.
- On one side of each circle, place a spoonful of filling.
- Using a fork to secure the edges, fold the pastry over.
The pasties are air-fried:
- Apply a thin layer of egg wash to the tops (optional).
- Make sure there aren’t too many pasties in the air fryer basket.
- Cook for 20 to 25 minutes, or until cooked through and golden brown, at 350°F (175°C).
Serve:
- Before serving, allow them to cool slightly. Savor it with your preferred salad or dipping sauce.
Feel free to alter the filling to suit your preferences!
