Cozy Cottage Shepherd’s Pie recipe
Ingredients:
For the filling:
- – 2 pounds ground beef
- – 1 onion, diced
- – 3 carrots, diced
- – 1 cup frozen peas
- – 3 cloves garlic, minced
- – 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- – 1 cup beef broth
- – 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- – 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- – Salt and pepper to taste
For the topping:
- – 4 large potatoes, peeled and quartered
- – 1/2 cup milk
- – 4 tablespoons butter
- – 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- – 1 egg (for egg wash)
Directions:
1. Get the filling ready:
In a large pan, brown the ground meat.
Stir in tomato paste, broth, and seasonings after adding the onions, carrots, and garlic.
Add peas last. Simmer until thickened. Prepare the mashed potatoes:
Boil potatoes until they are soft; then, drain and mash them with butter and milk; add salt and pepper to taste.
3. Put the pie together:
Fill the baking dish with the meat mixture; cover with mashed potatoes; cover with puff pastry; brush with egg wash; and use a knife to score the top.
4. Bake: Set the oven to 400°F. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes. Before serving, let it cool for 10 minutes.
