Components:

Regarding the steak:

  1. Two filet mignon or ribeye steaks, or any other cut you like
  2. To taste, add salt and pepper.
  3. One tablespoon of butter or olive oil
  4. One tablespoon of optional butter for finishing

For the Garlic Cream Sauce:

  • Four minced garlic cloves
  • One tablespoon of butter or olive oil
  • Half a cup of heavy cream
  • Half a cup of beef or chicken broth (or white wine for a stronger taste)
  • Half a cup of Parmesan cheese, grated
  • One teaspoon of optional Dijon mustard
  • One tablespoon of optional fresh parsley or thyme for garnish
  • To taste, add salt and pepper.

Directions:

Prepare the Steak: To bring the steaks to room temperature, take them out of the refrigerator 20 to 30 minutes prior to cooking.
The steaks should be liberally seasoned with salt and pepper on both sides.

Prepare the steak by:
In a big skillet, preferably cast iron, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat.
Add the steaks when the oil is hot and glistening. Depending on how done you want them, you can sear them for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or longer (use a meat thermometer: 130°F for medium-rare, 140°F for medium).
Optional: For added flavor and richness, add 1 tablespoon of butter to the pan in the final minute of cooking.
After the steaks are cooked to your preference, take them out of the skillet and let them rest for five to ten minutes. To keep warm, cover with foil.

To prepare the Creamy Garlic Sauce, put 1 tablespoon of butter or olive oil in the same skillet and warm it over medium heat.
For one to two minutes, add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant but not burnt.
Add the beef or chicken broth (or white wine) to the pan to deglaze it. To combine all the flavors, scrape off any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
Bring to a simmer after adding the heavy cream. The sauce should gradually thicken after 3–4 minutes of cooking.
If using, add the Dijon mustard and Parmesan cheese. Stir until the sauce is creamy and smooth. To taste, add salt and pepper.
You can now add a little butter or more Parmesan for a deeper sauce.

Put the Dish Together:
Spoon the creamy garlic sauce over the steaks that have rested on plates.
If desired, garnish with parsley or fresh thyme.

Serve: Present the tender steaks with luscious garlic sauce and your preferred sides, including roasted veggies, mashed potatoes, or a straightforward salad.

Advice:

Steak doneness: Cook your steak for a few additional minutes if you prefer it more well-done. To make sure the meat is cooked to your liking, use a meat thermometer.
Variations of creamy sauce: For a more nuanced taste, you can add a dash of brandy or white wine. Add a little lemon juice or a teaspoon of Dijon mustard for more depth.
Sides: Serve your steak with a crisp, fresh salad, a green vegetable like asparagus, or a starchy dish like mashed potatoes for a well-rounded supper.

Savor your tender steak with luscious garlic sauce! For steak fans and anyone else in the mood for something hearty and savory, this is the ideal supper.
