Crescent rolls with chicken
Components:
- One 8-ounce can of chilled crescent roll dough
- Two cups of cooked, shredded chicken (rotisserie chicken is excellent)
- Half a cup of softened cream cheese
- Half a cup of shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup of optionally finely chopped onion
- 1/4 teaspoon optional garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon of optional Italian seasoning or dried oregano
- To taste, add salt and pepper.
- For brushing, use one tablespoon of melted butter.
- One tablespoon of freshly chopped parsley or chives, if desired, for garnish
Directions:
1. Set the oven’s temperature to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking sheet gently or line it with parchment paper.
2. Make the filling: Put the shredded chicken, melted cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, the chopped onion (if using), oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a big bowl. Mix until the mixture is creamy and all the ingredients are properly incorporated.
3. Make the crescent rolls: As directed on the packaging, open the can of crescent roll dough and divide it into triangles.
4. Put the rolls together:
Place 1-2 teaspoons of the chicken mixture onto each crescent triangle’s broad end using a spoon. Encase the chicken mixture inside the dough by gently rolling it from the broad end toward the pointed end.
5. Arrange on the baking sheet: Arrange the filled crescent rolls, slightly apart, on the baking sheet that has been prepared.
6. Brush with butter: To give the crescent rolls a golden, flaky finish while they bake, brush the tops with melted butter.
7. Bake: Preheat the oven and bake the chicken crescent rolls for 12 to 15 minutes, or until they are puffy and golden brown.
8. Serve: After the rolls are done baking, take them out of the oven and allow them to cool a little. If desired, garnish with fresh chives or parsley. Warm up and serve as an appetizer or main course.
Advice:
To enhance the flavor, you can use cooked spinach, mushrooms, or even bacon into the stuffing.
Add some chopped jalapeños or a dab of hot sauce to the filling for a hotter variation.
Prepare in advance: The chicken combination can be made in advance and kept in the refrigerator. When you’re ready, simply put the rolls together and bake them.
These Chicken Crescent Rolls are a quick and simple way to make a tasty and comfortable lunch. Have fun!
