Instructions Crispy and Perfectly Seasoned Air Fryer Potato Chips:
- Using a mandolin, finely slice the potatoes into ⅛” slices after cleaning them.
- Soak the potato slices for 15 to 30 minutes in a dish of cold water. After thoroughly draining, pat dry with a towel.
- Set the air fryer’s temperature to 370°F. Add salt to taste after tossing potatoes in oil.
- Cook the potatoes in the air fryer for ten minutes. Continue to cook, stirring and tossing every few minutes, for another 12 to 17 minutes.
- To prevent burning, remove the browned potatoes as soon as they start to crisp. Keep frying until all of the chips are browned and crisp.
Remarks:
- If at all feasible, use a mandolin or the “slice side” of a box grater.
- Chips get extremely crispy and don’t discolor when soaked in cold water.
- Before cooking, make sure they are as dry as possible.
To prevent burning, remove individual chips as soon as they start to crisp or become a light shade of brown.
Advice:
- Keep in a bowl at room temperature. They may occasionally become softer if sealed. You may also use a brown bag with a clip.
- Simply place the chips back in the air fryer for a few minutes to reheat them to a hot, crispy texture if they start to lose their crunch. Alternatively, arrange them in a single layer on a cookie pan and bake them for three to five minutes under the broiler.
