Crispy & Cheesy Hassel back Potatoes in an Air Fryer

Components:

  1. Four medium-sized potatoes (Russet or Yukon Gold)
  2. Three tablespoons of melted butter or olive oil
  3. One teaspoon of kosher salt
  4. Half a teaspoon of black pepper
  5. Half a teaspoon of powdered garlic
  6. Half a teaspoon of onion powder
  7. Half a teaspoon of optional paprika
  8. Half a cup of shredded cheddar cheese, or any other preferred cheese
  9. Two tablespoons of Parmesan cheese, grated
  10. Garnish with parsley or fresh chives, if desired.
  11. Your preferred dipping sauce or sour cream (optional for serving)

Directions:

Get the potatoes ready:

  • Thoroughly wash and pat dry the potatoes.
  • To make your cuts more precise and avoid slicing all the way through, place a potato between two wooden spoons or chopsticks.
  • To ensure the potato stays intact, cut thin, even slices across it with a sharp knife, pausing just before you cut through. These slices should be about 1/8 inch apart.

Season the potatoes.

  • Combine the olive oil (or melted butter), salt, pepper, onion and garlic powders, and paprika in a small bowl.
  • Apply a good amount of the seasoned oil mixture to each potato, ensuring that some gets inside the slices.

Fry the potatoes in the air:

  • For around three minutes, preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  • Make sure the potatoes do not overlap when you place them in the air fryer basket.
  • Depending on their size, air fry the potatoes for 20 to 25 minutes, or until they are soft on the inside and crispy on the exterior. If necessary, brush them with any leftover oil mixture after checking them halfway through.

Put the cheese in there:

  • When the potatoes are nearly cooked, carefully take out the basket and cover them with the Parmesan and cheddar cheese shreds, making sure some cheese goes into the slices.
  • Put the basket back in the air fryer and cook for a further five to seven minutes, or until the cheese is bubbling and melted.

Serve after garnishing:

  • After taking the potatoes out of the air fryer, let them to cool a little.
  • If desired, garnish with parsley or fresh chives.
  • Serve with your preferred dipping sauce or sour cream on the side.

Note: The crispy edges, cheesy deliciousness, and delicate inside of these air fryer Hassel back potatoes make for a lovely combination. The potatoes can cook evenly and take in the tastes of the seasoning thanks to the thin slices. They are ideal for any occasion and make a great snack or side dish.
