Crispy Crunchy Air Fryer Wontons
Introduction
Wontons are a beloved Asian appetizer, usually fried in oil until golden brown. But with an air fryer, you can enjoy the same crunchy, crispy texture with a fraction of the oil. These air fryer wontons are filled with a delicious savory mixture of meat, vegetables, or cheese, wrapped in thin wonton wrappers, and cooked to golden perfection. Perfect as a snack, appetizer, or party finger food, these wontons are healthy, easy to make, and irresistibly crunchy.
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 8–10 minutes
Total Time: 25 minutes
Servings: 20 wontons (about 4 servings)
Ingredients
For the Filling:
200 g (7 oz) ground chicken, turkey
2 tbsp finely chopped onion or green onions
1 small carrot, grated or finely chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tsp soy sauce
½ tsp sesame oil
¼ tsp black pepper
Pinch of salt (adjust to taste)
For Assembly:
20–25 wonton wrappers (square or round)
1 small bowl of water (for sealing edges)
Light spray of cooking oil (olive or canola spray works best)
Instructions
Prepare the Filling
In a bowl, combine ground meat/shrimp, onion, carrot, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper.
Mix well until the filling is sticky and combined.
Assemble the Wontons
Place one wonton wrapper on a clean surface.
Add about 1 teaspoon of filling in the center.
Dip your finger in water and lightly wet the edges of the wrapper.
Fold into a triangle or desired shape (press edges firmly to seal).
Repeat until all wontons are prepared.
Air Fry the Wontons
Preheat your air fryer to 190°C (375°F) for 3 minutes.
Lightly spray wontons with cooking oil on both sides.
Place them in a single layer in the basket (don’t overcrowd).
Air fry for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden brown and crispy.
Serve
Serve hot with sweet chili sauce, soy dipping sauce, or garlic mayo.
Tips
Don’t overfill the wontons, or they may burst during cooking.
Seal edges tightly with water to avoid leaks.
For extra crunch, spray a little more oil before air frying.
Work in batches if making a large quantity.
