Crispy Fried Mushrooms Recipe
Ingredients:
•For the Mushrooms:
- •1 lb mushrooms (button, cremini, or oyster), cleaned and stems trimmed
- •1 cup buttermilk
- •1 tsp garlic powder
- •1/2 tsp paprika
- •Salt and pepper, to taste
- •For the Breading:
- •1 cup all-purpose flou
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko works best for extra crunch)
- •1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- •1 tsp smoked paprika
- •1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
- •For Frying:
- •Vegetable oil, for frying
Directions:
1. Get the mushrooms ready:
•Brush the buttermilk, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl. After adding the mushrooms, give them 20 to 30 minutes to soak.
2. Get the breading ready:
• Combine the flour, breadcrumbs, cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, Parmesan cheese (if using), salt, and pepper in a separate bowl.
3. Apply the Mushroom Coat:
After taking the mushrooms out of the buttermilk, shake off any extra moisture. Make sure they are evenly covered by rolling them in the breading mixture.
4. Add the mushrooms and fry.
• In a saucepan or deep skillet, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
•Fry the mushrooms in batches for two to three minutes, or until they are crispy and golden brown. Refrain from packing the pan too full.
5. Empty and Present:
• To drain any extra oil, place the fried mushrooms on a paper towel-lined platter.
•Serve right away with aioli, ranch, or spicy mayo as dipping sauces.
