Ingredients Crispy Golden Brown Twist Scotch Eggs in an Air Fryer:

  • 4 large eggs, hard-boiled and peeled
  • 1 pound (450g) good-quality sausage meat (pork or a combination of pork and other meats)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Cooking spray or oil for the air fryer basket

Instructions Crispy Golden Brown Twist Scotch Eggs in an Air Fryer:

  • Make the sausage meat mixture: Put the sausage meat, Worcestershire sauce, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, paprika, and cayenne pepper (if needed) in a big bowl. Using your hands or a wooden spoon, thoroughly mix until just blended.
  • Wrap the eggs: Separate the four equal portions of sausage meat mixture. Each component should be gently flattened into a disk form. Make sure to properly seal the edges of each egg as you wrap it in the sausage meat mixture.
  • Coat with breadcrumbs: To coat each wrapped egg, roll it in panko breadcrumbs after dipping it in the beaten egg to create an egg wash. Transfer the covered eggs to a tray or plate.
  • Set the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) to preheat it. Apply frying spray or brush with oil to the air fryer basket.
  • Prepare the Scotch eggs: Put the coated eggs in the basket of the air fryer, allowing space between them. Cook, shaking the basket halfway through, for 10 to 12 minutes.
  • To crisp the outside, raise the temperature of the air fryer to 420°F (220°C). Cook for a further two to three minutes, or until the outside is crispy and golden brown.
  • Serve: Take the hot Scotch eggs out of the air fryer. Cut in half and serve with your preferred condiment or dipping sauce.
