Ingredients Crispy Golden Brown Twist Scotch Eggs in an Air Fryer:
- 4 large eggs, hard-boiled and peeled
- 1 pound (450g) good-quality sausage meat (pork or a combination of pork and other meats)
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Cooking spray or oil for the air fryer basket
Instructions Crispy Golden Brown Twist Scotch Eggs in an Air Fryer:
- Make the sausage meat mixture: Put the sausage meat, Worcestershire sauce, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, paprika, and cayenne pepper (if needed) in a big bowl. Using your hands or a wooden spoon, thoroughly mix until just blended.
- Wrap the eggs: Separate the four equal portions of sausage meat mixture. Each component should be gently flattened into a disk form. Make sure to properly seal the edges of each egg as you wrap it in the sausage meat mixture.
- Coat with breadcrumbs: To coat each wrapped egg, roll it in panko breadcrumbs after dipping it in the beaten egg to create an egg wash. Transfer the covered eggs to a tray or plate.
- Set the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) to preheat it. Apply frying spray or brush with oil to the air fryer basket.
- Prepare the Scotch eggs: Put the coated eggs in the basket of the air fryer, allowing space between them. Cook, shaking the basket halfway through, for 10 to 12 minutes.
- To crisp the outside, raise the temperature of the air fryer to 420°F (220°C). Cook for a further two to three minutes, or until the outside is crispy and golden brown.
- Serve: Take the hot Scotch eggs out of the air fryer. Cut in half and serve with your preferred condiment or dipping sauce.
