Cupcakes with Salted Caramel
The ideal combination of sweet and savory is achieved in these Salted Caramel Cupcakes, which have a fluffy vanilla cake filled with gooey caramel, rich buttercream on top, and a dash of sea salt on top. Perfect for any event when a rich dessert is required!
Components:
Regarding the cupcakes:
- 175g of softened butter
- 175 grams of light brown sugar
- Three huge eggs
- One teaspoon of vanilla cream
- 175g of flour that self-raises
For the filling and garnish, the Salted Caramel Sauce:
- 120ml of heavy cream, 90g of butter, and 200g of sugar
- One teaspoon of sea salt
For the frosting made of buttercream:
- 200g of softened butter
- 400g of powdered sugar
- Two teaspoons of salted caramel sauce
- One tablespoon of milk
Directions:
First, prepare the cupcakes:
- Prepare a muffin tray with paper liners and preheat the oven to 160°C (320°F).
- Beat the brown sugar and butter until they are light and creamy.
- One by one, add the eggs, thoroughly mixing each time. Mix in the vanilla extract.
Add the self-raising flour gradually until just incorporated. - A toothpick inserted into the cupcake liners should come out clean after 20 to 25 minutes of baking. Let the cupcakes cool down.
2. Get the Salted Caramel Sauce ready:
- Melt the sugar in a pot over medium heat, stirring continuously, until it turns amber.
- Add the butter slowly and whisk until it melts. Stirring continuously, gradually pour in the heavy cream.
- Take off the heat and add the sea salt, stirring. Allow the caramel sauce to cool.
3. Prepare the buttercream icing:
- Creamy softened butter is achieved by beating it.
- Add the salted caramel flavoring and icing sugar gradually until smooth. If necessary, use the milk to change the consistency.
4. Put the cupcakes together:
- Put a teaspoon of salted caramel sauce in the center of each cupcake when it has cooled.
- Drizzle extra salted caramel sauce over the buttercream frosting. As a garnish, sprinkle a teaspoon of sea salt on top.
- 15 minutes for preparation
- 25 minutes is the cooking time.
- 12 cupcakes are served.
