Prep Time: 15 minutes

Rise Time: 60 minutes

Cook Time: 10–12 minutes

Total Time: About 1 hour 30 minutes

Ingredients

For the Dough:

3 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) instant yeast

¼ cup granulated sugar

1 tsp salt

¾ cup warm milk (110°F)

¼ cup warm water (110°F)

4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

1 large egg

For Topping:

2 tbsp butter, melted (for brushing)

Instructions

 Make the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.

Add warm milk, warm water, melted butter, and egg. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.

Knead the dough on a floured surface (or use a stand mixer) for 8-10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

 First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

 Shape the Rolls

Punch down the dough and divide it into 8–10 equal pieces. Roll each into a smooth ball.

Place rolls in a greased air fryer basket, leaving space between them for expansion.

Second Rise (Optional, but makes them extra fluffy!)

Cover and let them rise for another 15-20 minutes.

 Air Fry the Rolls

Preheat the air fryer to 320°F (160°C) for 3 minutes.

Brush rolls with melted butter and air fry at 320°F for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.

Remove, brush with more butter, and let cool slightly before serving.

Tips & Tricks

Use Warm Liquid:

Ensures yeast activation; milk and water should be around 110°F.

Don’t Overcrowd:

Leave space in the air fryer for rolls to expand. Cook in batches if necessary.

Second Rise for Fluffiness:

Though optional, it gives the softest, airiest rolls.

Check for Doneness:

If unsure, insert a thermometer—190°F inside means they’re done!

Storage:

Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for longer.
