Fried Cinnamon Apple Rings

Fried Cinnamon Apple Rings

Ingredients:
  1. 4 large apples (e.g., Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  2. 1 cup all-purpose flour
  3. 1 cup granulated sugar
  4. 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  5. 1 teaspoon baking powder
  6. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  7. 1 large egg
  8. 1 cup milk
  9. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  10. Vegetable oil for frying
Optional: powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions:
Prepare Apples:
Begin by peeling and coring the apples. Slice them into 1/4-inch thick rings, ensuring uniformity for even frying.
Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt. Whisk thoroughly to blend all the dry ingredients together.
Prepare Batter:
In a separate bowl, beat the egg until frothy. Add in the milk and vanilla extract, mixing well. Gradually incorporate the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring continuously until a smooth batter forms.
Heat Oil:
In a deep skillet or frying pan, pour about 1 inch of vegetable oil. Heat over medium-high heat until it reaches around 350°F (175°C). A small drop of batter should sizzle when the oil is ready.
Coat and Fry:
Dip each apple ring into the batter, allowing any excess to drip off. Carefully place the battered apple rings into the hot oil. Fry in batches, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and crisp, about 2-3 minutes per side.
Drain and Dust:
Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried apple rings from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain any excess oil. If desired, dust with powdered sugar for an extra touch of sweetness.
Serve:
Serve these delightful apple rings warm and relish the crispy, cinnamon-sugar goodness that is perfect for a cozy treat!
