It’s perfect for a weeknight dinner and can be served as is or over rice, noodles, or cauliflower rice for a low-carb option.
Prep Time: 10 minutes (chopping veggies & seasoning meat)
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 25 minutes
Ingredients:
1 lb (450g) ground beef (or ground turkey/chicken)
½ head green cabbage, chopped
1 cup mushrooms, sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional for extra umami)
1 tsp sesame oil
½ tsp black pepper
½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional for spice)
2 tbsp green onions, chopped (for garnish)
1 tsp sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions:
Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula (about 5-7 minutes). Drain excess fat if needed.
Add garlic and mushrooms to the skillet, stirring for 2 minutes until fragrant.
Stir in the chopped cabbage, soy sauce, oyster sauce, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage softens but still has a bit of crunch.
Drizzle sesame oil over the stir-fry and give it a final toss.
Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds, then serve hot!
Tips for the Best Stir-Fry:
Use a hot pan: A high-heat skillet or wok helps achieve the best texture.
Don’t overcook the cabbage: Keep it slightly crisp for better texture.
Make it spicy: Add a teaspoon of sriracha or chili flakes.
Switch the protein: Try ground turkey, chicken, or even tofu for a vegetarian version.
