Garlic Butter Steak Recipe

Ingredients:

  1. 2 ribeye or sirloin steaks (about 1-inch thick)
  2. Salt and pepper, to taste
  3. 1 tablespoon olive oil
  4. 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  5. 4 cloves garlic, minced
  6. Fresh thyme or rosemary (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Steaks: Remove the steaks from the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes. This helps them cook evenly. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat the Skillet: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  3. Sear the Steaks: Add the steaks to the skillet. Sear for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving them. Flip the steaks and cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, adjusting the time as needed for your preferred doneness.
  4. Add Garlic Butter: In the last minute of cooking, reduce the heat to medium and add the butter, minced garlic, and fresh herbs (if using). As the butter melts, use a spoon to baste the steaks with the garlicky butter.
  5. Rest the Steaks: Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest on a cutting board for 5-10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute.
  6. Serve: Slice the steaks against the grain, drizzle with the garlic butter from the skillet, and serve immediately. Enjoy with your favorite sides!

Tips:

  1. For extra flavor, marinate the steaks in a mixture of olive oil, garlic, and herbs for a few hours before cooking.
  2. Pair the steak with roasted vegetables or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
