Grilled Cheese Toast
Ingredients
- 4 slices of bread (your choice: white, sourdough, whole wheat)
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a blend)
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon dried herbs (like oregano or basil, optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the Bread:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) if you want to make these in the oven. Alternatively, you can use a skillet on the stovetop.
- Mix the Butter:
- In a small bowl, combine the softened butter with garlic powder and dried herbs (if using). Mix until well blended.
- Spread the Butter:
- Spread the butter mixture generously on one side of each slice of bread.
- Assemble the Toast:
- Place the bread slices butter-side down on a baking sheet (or in the skillet). Top each slice with shredded cheese. You can add a sprinkle of salt and pepper if desired.
- Bake or Cook:
- Oven Method: Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and the edges are golden brown.
- Skillet Method: Heat a skillet over medium heat. Place the bread slices butter-side down and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted.
- Serve:
