Grilled Chicken Margherita the flavors of Italy

Experience the flavors of Italy with our Grilled Chicken Margherita! A perfect blend of juicy chicken, fresh basil, and mozzarella.


– 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (pounded to less than 1-inch thickness) 🍗
– Salt and pepper to taste 🧂
– 2 tbsp olive oil 🫒
– 1 tsp garlic powder 🧄
– 1 tsp Italian seasoning (OR ½ tsp dried oregano + ¼ tsp dried basil + ¼ tsp dried thyme) 🌿
– 4 slices mozzarella cheese 🧀
– ½ cup basil pesto (try this Easy 5 Minute Pesto Recipe: [link]) 🌿
– ½ cup cherry tomatoes, halved 🍅
– 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice 🍋
– ½ cup packed basil leaves, very thinly sliced 🌿
– Cracked black pepper 🌶️


1. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
2. Season chicken breasts with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
3. Drizzle olive oil over the chicken.
4. Grill chicken for about 6-7 minutes per side until cooked through.
5. During the last 2 minutes of grilling, place a slice of mozzarella on each chicken breast and cover the grill until cheese is melted.
6. While chicken is cooking, mix cherry tomatoes with lemon juice and thinly sliced basil.
7. Once chicken is done, remove from the grill.
8. Spread a generous spoonful of basil pesto on each chicken breast.
9. Top with the tomato-basil mixture.
10. Finish with cracked black pepper and serve hot! 😋
