Homemade Apple Fritters Recipe
Introduction
Apple fritters are a classic bakery-style treat made by combining fresh apples with a sweet cinnamon batter, frying until golden brown, and topping with a simple glaze. They are crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, with bursts of juicy apple in every bite. Perfect for breakfast, dessert, or a cozy snack with coffee or tea.

Cook Time: 15 minutes
Cooling/Glazing Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 40 minutes
Servings: 12–14 fritters
Ingredients
For the Fritters:
2 cups all-purpose flour
¼ cup granulated sugar
2 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon
2 large eggs
⅔ cup whole milk
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
2 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and diced small
Oil for frying (vegetable or canola oil)
For the Glaze:
1 ½ cups powdered sugar
2–3 tbsp milk (adjust for consistency)
½ tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
Make the Batter
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
In another bowl, whisk eggs, milk, vanilla, and melted butter.
Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
Fold in diced apples gently.
Fry the Fritters
In a heavy-bottomed pot or deep fryer, heat oil to 350°F (175°C).
Drop heaping spoonfuls of batter (about ¼ cup each) into the hot oil.
Fry 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.
Use a slotted spoon to remove fritters and place them on a wire rack lined with paper towels.
Make the Glaze
In a small bowl, whisk powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth.
Drizzle or dip warm fritters into the glaze. Let set for a few minutes before serving.
Tips
Use tart apples (like Granny Smith) for the best flavor balance.
Don’t overcrowd the pot while frying—this keeps oil temperature steady.
If fritters are browning too quickly, lower the heat slightly to ensure the inside cooks.
Best served warm, but can be stored in an airtight container for 1–2 days.
