Homemade Crispy Crackers Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups (190g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder or onion powder (optional for flavor)
- 1/2 teaspoon dried herbs or seeds (e.g., poppy seeds, sesame seeds, or oregano)
- 1/4 cup (60ml) olive oil or melted butter
- 1/3 cup (80ml) water
- Extra salt for sprinkling (optional)
METHOD:
- Set the oven’s temperature to 350°F (175°C).
- Put parchment paper on a baking pan.
- To make the dough, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder (if using), and herbs or seeds in a big basin.
- Stir in olive oil until crumbly.
- Water should be added gradually while mixing to bring the dough together. It need to be both firm and flexible.
- Roll Out the Dough: To make handling the dough simpler, divide it into two halves.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out one part until it is extremely thin, approximately 1/8 inch (3 mm) thick.
- Cut out shapes using a knife or a circular cutter. Using a fork, make holes in each cracker to stop them from ballooning.
- Bake: Arrange the crackers, a little apart, on the baking sheet that has been prepared.
- If you like, add more salt on top.
- Bake until golden and crispy, 12 to 15 minutes. To avoid burning, keep a constant eye on everything.
- Cool: Place the crackers on a wire rack to allow them to cool fully. As they cool, they will get more crispier.
- Serve: As a snack, eat them simply or with cheese or dips.
