Components:
Regarding the cake layer:
- One box (15.25 oz) of homemade cake or vanilla or yellow cake mix
- One-fourth cup vegetable oil
- Three huge eggs
- One cup of water
Regarding the layer of creaminess:
- One box of instant vanilla pudding mix (3.4 oz)
- Two cups of cold milk
- For added creaminess, feel free to add half a cup of heavy cream.
- One teaspoon of vanilla extract
Regarding the fruit layer:
- 1 1/2 cups of cut strawberries
- Half a cup of blueberries
- One banana, cut (optional) and one and a half cups of peeled and sliced kiwis
- Half a cup of mandarin oranges (you can substitute any fruit you choose)
Regarding the whipped garnish:
- One and a half cups of heavy whipping cream
- Two tablespoons of sugar powder
- One teaspoon of vanilla extract
Directions:
1. Get the cake ready:
- According to the directions on the cake mix box, preheat your oven to 350°F/175°C.
- As directed on the packaging, prepare the cake mix by mixing the ingredients (cake mix, eggs, oil, and water). Fill a 9 x 13-inch baking dish with the batter after greasing it.
- As instructed, bake the cake for approximately 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool fully. Cut it into 1-inch-long cubes after it has cooled.
2. Prepare the layer of creamy pudding:
- Mix the instant vanilla pudding mix and cold milk in a medium bowl and stir until the mixture thickens, which should take about two minutes.
- Mix till smooth after adding the vanilla essence and heavy cream. Feel free to add a bit more heavy cream or perhaps some mascarpone cheese for a fuller flavor if you prefer a thicker pudding layer.
3. Prepare the whipped cream:
- Beat the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract in a refrigerated
- mixing basin until soft peaks form, about 3–4 minutes.
- Set aside once whipped.
4. Put the trifle together:
- Layer the cake cubes in the bottom of a large trifle dish (or individual serving glasses) to begin.
- Cover the cake with a layer of the rich vanilla pudding mixture using a spoon.
- Cover the pudding with a layer of fresh fruit.
- Continue layering until you reach the top of the plate, switching between cake pieces, pudding, and fruit. Add a good amount of whipped topping at the end.
5. Chill before serving:
- To allow the flavors to combine, cover the trifle with plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator for at least two to three hours, or better yet, overnight.
- For a colorful and lovely display, sprinkle any leftover fresh fruit on top right before serving.
Advice:
- Drizzle some honey or fruit syrup in between the layers for extra taste.
- Plan ahead: The flavors have more time to meld when the trifle is chilled overnight, which enhances its flavor.
- Fruit options: Depending on what’s in season or what you like, you can add or substitute fruits like mangoes, peaches, or raspberries.
- Cake substitutes: For a variety of textures, you can use sponge cake, pound cake, or angel food cake.
A popular dessert, this Layered Fruit Trifle Delight features a soft cake base, creamy layers, and refreshing fruit. Have fun!
