Classic Meatballs Recipe

Ingredients:

  1. 1 lb (450g) ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
  2. 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (or crushed crackers)
  3. 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  4. 1/4 cup fresh parsley (chopped)
  5. 1/4 cup onion (finely chopped)
  6. 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  7. 1 large egg
  8. 1 teaspoon salt
  9. 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  10. 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  11. 1 teaspoon dried basil (optional)
  12. 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  13. Marinara sauce (for serving)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Ingredients:
    • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, onion, garlic, egg, salt, pepper, oregano, basil, and red pepper flakes. Mix until just combined; be careful not to overmix.
  3. Form Meatballs:
    • Using your hands, form the mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs (about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter) and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and browned on the outside (internal temperature should reach 160°F or 70°C).
  5. Serve:
    • Serve the meatballs with marinara sauce over pasta, in a sub sandwich, or on their own as an appetizer.
