milk bread
Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour (plus more for dusting)
- 1 cup whole milk, warmed (about 110°F or 43°C)
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 2 ¼ teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg (optional, for egg wash)
Steps for Preparation Step
1: Get the yeast going. Warm the Milk: Heat the milk in a small pot or the microwave until it’s just warm, about 110°F or 43°C. Be careful not to heat it up too much. Mix Yeast and Sugar: Put the warm milk, sugar, and yeast in a mixing bowl and mix them together. After a short stir, let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes until it foams up.
Step 2: Dry the dough mix. Ingredients: Put the flour and salt in a big bowl and mix them together.
Add the Wet Ingredients: When the yeast mixture starts to foam, add it to the flour mixture along with the spread butter. Mix until you get a rough dough.
Knead the Dough: Put the dough on a greased surface and work it with your hands for 8 to 10 minutes, until it is thin and smooth. If you have an electric machine, knead the dough for 5 to 7 minutes on medium speed with a dough hook
. Step 3: Get up first How to Shape the Dough: Put the dough in a bowl that has been oiled and roll it into a ball. Turn the ball around to cover all sides with oil. Place something warm over the bowl and cover it with plastic wrap or a cooking towel. Let it rise for about an hour, or until it doubles in size. Next, shape the loaf and punch down the dough. After the dough has risen, do this to get rid of the air.
Shape the Dough: Place the dough on a floured surface and make a square shape with it. Make a letter shape with the dough by folding it in thirds. Then, roll it into a log shape.
Place in Loaf Pan: Put the shaped dough in a 9×5-inch loaf pan that has been greased so that the seam side is facing down.
Step 5: Second Rise Take Cover and Get Up Again: The dough should rise for another 30 to 45 minutes, or until it is just above the edge of the pan. Cover the pan with plastic wrap or a kitchen towel.
Step 6: Put the bread in the oven. Warm up the oven: Warm the oven up to 175°F (350°F).
Egg Wash: You can beat the egg and brush it over the top of the loaf if you want it to look shiny. Bake: Place the bread in an oven that has already been heated. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the loaf sounds hollow when hit.
Cool: Take the bread out of the oven and leave it in the pan for 10 minutes to cool down. After that, move it to a wire rack to cool fully.
Step 7: Have It! Cut the milk bread into slices and enjoy it plain, with butter, or as part of your favorite sandwich.
