No-Oven Vanilla Custard Cream Buns
Vanilla Cream:
- 250g Milk
- 20g Butter
- 3 Egg yolks
- 50g Sugar
- 20g Corn flour
- 1/2 Teaspoon vanilla paste
Dough Ingredients:
- 200g All-purpose flour
- 25g Sugar
- 3g Instant yeast
- 1 Egg yolk
- 100g Warm milk
- 20g Butter
Instructions:
Vanilla Cream:
- In a saucepan, heat milk and butter until simmering.
- In a bowl, whisk egg yolks, sugar, cornflour, and vanilla paste until smooth.
- Gradually pour the hot milk mixture into the egg mixture, whisking continuously.
- Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly until it thickens. Remove from heat and let it cool.
Dough:
- In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, sugar, and instant yeast.
- Add egg yolk, warm milk, and butter. Mix until it forms a dough.
- Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Divide the dough into small portions and flatten each into a disc shape.
- Spoon a dollop of vanilla cream into the center of each disc and seal the edges, forming buns.
Cooking:
- Heat a pan over low heat. Place the buns into the pan and cover with a lid.
- Cook for 12-15 minutes or until the buns are golden brown on the bottom.
- Carefully flip the buns and cook for another 10-12 minutes or until the other side is golden brown.
