No-Oven Vanilla Custard Cream Buns

Vanilla Cream:

  • 250g Milk
  • 20g Butter
  • 3 Egg yolks
  • 50g Sugar
  • 20g Corn flour
  • 1/2 Teaspoon vanilla paste

Dough Ingredients:

  • 200g All-purpose flour
  • 25g Sugar
  • 3g Instant yeast
  • 1 Egg yolk
  • 100g Warm milk
  • 20g Butter

Instructions:

Vanilla Cream:

  1. In a saucepan, heat milk and butter until simmering.
  2. In a bowl, whisk egg yolks, sugar, cornflour, and vanilla paste until smooth.
  3. Gradually pour the hot milk mixture into the egg mixture, whisking continuously.
  4. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly until it thickens. Remove from heat and let it cool.

Dough:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, sugar, and instant yeast.
  2. Add egg yolk, warm milk, and butter. Mix until it forms a dough.
  3. Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. Divide the dough into small portions and flatten each into a disc shape.
  5. Spoon a dollop of vanilla cream into the center of each disc and seal the edges, forming buns.

Cooking:

  1. Heat a pan over low heat. Place the buns into the pan and cover with a lid.
  2. Cook for 12-15 minutes or until the buns are golden brown on the bottom.
  3. Carefully flip the buns and cook for another 10-12 minutes or until the other side is golden brown.
