Recipe for Nutella-Filled Donuts
Ingredients:
Donut Dough Ingredients:
- 2. One package of 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- Half a cup of heated milk, or roughly 110°F/43°C
- 1/4 cup of sugar, granulated
- 1/4 cup melted unsalted butter
- One huge egg
- Half a teaspoon vanilla extract
- Two and a half cups of all-purpose flour
- Half a teaspoon of salt
- Oil made from vegetables (for frying)
For the filling of Nutella:
- Half a cup of Nutella, or more if necessary
Regarding the Coating:
- Half a cup of powdered sugar, or cinnamon sugar if preferred
Directions:
First, prepare the dough for the donuts.
- Make the yeast active: Put the warm milk and 1 tablespoon of the sugar in a small bowl. After adding the yeast and stirring, leave the mixture for five to ten minutes, or until it starts to foam.
- Mix the dough: Put the flour, salt, and remaining sugar in a big bowl. Pour in the egg, melted butter, and yeast mixture after creating a well in the middle. Mix until a dough forms after adding the vanilla essence.
- To knead the dough, place it on a lightly floured board and work it for five to seven minutes, or until it is elastic and smooth. Another option is to use a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook.
- To allow the dough to rise, put it in a basin that has been lightly greased and cover it with plastic wrap or a fresh towel. It should double in size after 1 to 1 1/2 hours of rising in a warm location.
Second Step: Form the Donuts
- Punch down the dough: Punch down the dough to release the air once it has risen. On a lightly floured board, roll it out to a thickness of about 1/2 inch.
- Cut out the donuts: Cut out donut shapes with a circular cookie cutter that is roughly 3 inches in diameter. You can create the ring shape with a large and a smaller cutter if you don’t have a donut cutter. Reroll any leftover dough, then cut out additional donuts.
- To allow the donuts to rise, put them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, cover with a towel, and let them rise for a further 30 to 45 minutes, or until they are puffed.
Third Step: Deep-Fry the Donuts
- Warm up the oil: Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C). Enough oil will be needed to immerse the donuts.
- Cook the doughnuts: A couple at a time, carefully drop the donuts into the heated oil. Fry until golden brown, about 1 to 2 minutes per side. To drain excess oil, remove the donuts using a slotted spoon and lay them on a dish lined with paper towels.
Fill the donuts in step four.
- Pour Nutella into the donuts: Fill the donuts with Nutella using a tiny spoon or a pastry bag with a narrow tip after they have cooled slightly. To fill them with the creamy hazelnut spread, you can gently squeeze the tip into the donut’s side.
- Coat the doughnuts in step five.
Sugar coating: After filling, coat the warm donuts with granulated sugar or, for a unique twist, cinnamon sugar.

Advice:
Nutella filling: To make it simpler to fill the donuts, reheat the Nutella in the microwave for a few seconds if it’s too thick to pipe.
Alternatively, you can put the molded donuts on a baking sheet, coat them with melted butter, and bake them for 12 to 15 minutes, or until golden, if you like baked donuts.
Plan ahead: You can freeze the fried donuts (before filling) for later use, or you can make the dough ahead of time and keep it in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours for a slower rise.
Savor the delicious, chocolatey surprise within your Nutella-filled doughnuts, which are crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside!
