Orange and Vanilla Yogurt Doughnuts Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 egg
- Pinch of salt
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- Zest of one orange
- 70 ml of vegetable oil
- 125 g of vanilla yogurt
- Approximately 400 g of all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
- Apricot jam (optional, for filling)
- Coconut flour (for dusting)
- Additional vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the egg with a pinch of salt.
- Add 2 tablespoons of sugar and the zest of one orange. Mix well.
- Pour in 70 ml of vegetable oil and 125 g of vanilla yogurt. Stir until well combined.
- Gradually add approximately 400 g of all-purpose flour and 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder. Mix until a dough forms. The dough should be soft but not sticky. If necessary, add more flour to achieve the right consistency.
- Shape the Doughnuts:
- Lightly flour a clean work surface and roll out the dough to about 1/2-inch thickness.
- Use a doughnut cutter or two different-sized round cutters to cut out doughnut shapes. If you don’t have a doughnut cutter, you can use a glass or cookie cutter to cut out circles and a smaller cutter or bottle cap to cut out the center holes.
- Fry the Doughnuts:
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan or pot over medium heat. The oil should be about 1 inch deep.
- Once the oil is hot (around 350°F or 175°C), carefully place the doughnuts into the oil, a few at a time, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.
- Fry the doughnuts for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
- Use a slotted spoon to remove the doughnuts from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
- Fill and Dust (Optional):
- If desired, fill a piping bag with apricot jam. Make a small hole in the side of each doughnut and pipe a small amount of jam into the center.
- Dust the doughnuts with coconut flour for an extra touch of sweetness and texture.
- Serve:
- Allow the doughnuts to cool slightly before serving.
- Enjoy your homemade Orange and Vanilla Yogurt Doughnuts warm or at room temperature.
