Introduction

This Orange Blender Cake is a soft, moist, and fragrant citrus cake that comes together in minutes—literally! Instead of creaming butter and sugar, everything goes right into the blender, including a whole orange (peel and all). The zest gives it a natural perfume, the pulp keeps it moist, and the juice brightens every bite. Perfect for afternoon tea, breakfast, or even a light dessert, this cake is a one-bowl wonder that feels like sunshine in every slice. Best of all, it’s ready in just about an hour with minimal cleanup.

Ingredients

1 large orange (washed, deseeded, cut into chunks – peel included)

3 eggs (room temperature)

¾ cup (180 ml) vegetable oil (or melted butter)

1 ½ cups (300 g) granulated sugar

2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour

2 tsp baking powder

½ tsp baking soda

¼ tsp salt

Optional: 1 tsp vanilla extract or orange extract

Optional glaze: 1 cup powdered sugar + 2–3 tbsp fresh orange juice

Step-by-Step Instructions with Timing

Prep (10 minutes)

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

Grease and flour a 9-inch round or loaf pan (or line with parchment).

Wash and cut the orange into chunks, removing seeds but leaving peel intact.

Blend Wet Ingredients (5 minutes)

In a blender, add: orange chunks, eggs, sugar, and oil.

Blend until completely smooth and creamy (about 1–2 minutes).

 Mix Dry Ingredients (5 minutes)

In a mixing bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Make a well in the center and pour in the blended orange mixture.

Gently fold until just combined—do not overmix.

Bake (40–45 minutes)

Pour batter into prepared pan.

Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

If the top browns too quickly, tent loosely with foil.

 Cool & Glaze (15 minutes)

Let cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

For glaze: whisk powdered sugar with orange juice until smooth, then drizzle over cooled cake.
