Oregano Leaf Wellness Tea (Simple Herbal Support)

Oregano isn’t just a flavorful kitchen herb — it has been traditionally used for respiratory comfort and digestive support. While one single leaf is not a cure-all, oregano contains natural compounds like carvacrol and thymol that may help support bronchial health, soothe mild digestive discomfort, and provide antioxidant benefits when used properly. The safest and most effective way to enjoy it is as a gentle herbal tea.

🍃 Ingredients

  • 3–4 fresh oregano leaves (or ½ teaspoon dried oregano)

  • 1 cup hot water (not boiling vigorously)

  • 1 teaspoon raw honey (optional)

  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice (optional)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Rinse the leaves
If using fresh oregano, rinse thoroughly under cool running water to remove any dirt or residue. Pat dry gently.

2. Lightly crush
Using your fingers or the back of a spoon, lightly crush the leaves. This helps release the natural oils and beneficial compounds.

3. Steep
Place the leaves in a cup. Pour hot water over them (just below boiling). Cover the cup with a small plate and let it steep for 8–10 minutes. Covering helps trap the aromatic oils.

4. Strain and enhance
Strain the leaves out. Add honey for soothing sweetness and lemon for brightness if desired.

5. Sip slowly
Drink warm, once daily. For digestion, enjoy after meals. For respiratory comfort, sip slowly and inhale the steam gently before drinking.

 Alternative Method: Steam Inhalation

Add a handful of fresh oregano or 1 tablespoon dried oregano to a bowl of hot water. Lean over carefully, cover your head with a towel, and inhale the steam for 5–7 minutes. This may help temporarily ease nasal or chest congestion.

 Important Notes

  • Oregano can support wellness, but it does not replace medical treatment for asthma, bronchitis, or chronic conditions.

  • If pregnant, breastfeeding, on blood thinners, or managing a medical condition, consult a healthcare professional first.

  • Avoid excessive amounts, as strong herbal infusions may irritate the stomach.

Used thoughtfully, oregano tea can be a comforting, natural addition to your routine — simple, warming, and supportive for both digestion and seasonal respiratory wellness.
