1 lb (450g) ground beef (or shaved beef steak for a more authentic flavor)

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 green bell pepper, diced

1 small onion, chopped

1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

4 oz (115g) cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup sour cream

1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (for topping)

Optional: chopped parsley or hot sauce for garnish

Instructions:

Prep the Beef & Veggies (Time: 0–10 min)

Preheat a skillet over medium heat. Add olive oil.

Sauté chopped onions, bell pepper, and mushrooms for 3–4 minutes until slightly soft.

Add ground beef and cook until browned (about 5–6 minutes). Drain excess fat.

Stir in garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Mix the Filling (Time: 10–15 min)

In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked beef mixture with cream cheese and sour cream. Stir until smooth and creamy.

Fold in shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese.

Assemble the Casserole (Time: 15–17 min)

Lightly grease a 7×7 or 8-inch round air fryer-safe baking dish or pan.

Carefully place the casserole dish into the air fryer basket.

Air fry at 350°F for 12–15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

If needed, air fry for an extra 2–3 minutes for extra crisp edges.

Optional Garnishes:

Sprinkle with chopped parsley before serving.

Add a dash of hot sauce for a spicy twist.

Serve with toasted hoagie rolls, garlic bread, or a simple salad.

Tips & Tricks:

Low Carb Option: Skip the bread sides and serve with a side of roasted veggies or cauliflower rice.

Storage: Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer at 300°F for 5–6 minutes.

Want it more Philly-authentic? Use thinly sliced ribeye steak instead of ground beef and top with Cheez Whiz.
